Rough week, training-wise due to excessive lab/work/study time. Time to stop making excuses and find the time every day to either run, crossfit, or both, no matter what. Avoiding the snooze button for something that's not "mandatory" is tough, but it's time to get tougher.
I also apparently need to keep up with logging because I already forget what I did for most of this week so I'll record just the past few days I remember..
Thursday
AM: 4 miles + Snake hills from stadium + 2 miles
Crossfit WOD:
5 Rounds: 1 min max mountain climbers, 1 min max wall walks, 1 min max flutter kicks
Friday
9 miles, second half quicker than first
Saturday
6 miles
Crossfit WOD:
100m sprint
90 lunges
70 box jumps
50 AMSUs
30 thrusters, 50# total, dumbells
10 burpees
100m sprint
13:23
Pretty sure this refers to people who are lacking sleep due to partying... but I'll take it.

Monday
No run, early start to the day and late night last nightTuesday
Last morning in Atlanta- got up at 5am (thinking it was 6am), but that left me with plenty of time to get in a run. Since it was still dark, I hit the treadmill for 8 miles.
Piedmont Park, near midtown Atlanta
Wednesday
8 miles, Echo loop back at home
Thursday
Summit Rd run (~9 mi?). Felt great- tackled the hills pretty easily.Friday
Attempted a mile repeat workout. Did this a few weeks ago and made it through 7 (workout is to run mile repeats at 6:30 pace with 200m jogging recovery- do as many as possible without dropping off pace by more than 5 seconds). Today? Only made it through 2!! First was too quick (6:20ish?) then dropped to almost 6:40 for the second- oops! Cookies are probably not the most energizing breakfast food, so lets blame it on the poor diet of spring break!
Later in the afternoon, I hit up a crossfit workout with Carmine, as follows:
15 min AMRAP
3 box jumps, 3 push-ups, 3 pull-ups
6,6,6
9,9,9
12,12,12
etc...
Made it through 21 21 21 plus 5 box jumps

~10 miles in HOTlanta!!
Got to Georgia Tech this morning around 10AM and decided to
lace up the kicks and head out for my kind of tour. I headed over to Piedmont Park and the
surrounding area and everything was absolutely beautiful. It was nothing like the rough city everyone
makes it out to be. In the weeks leading
up to this trip I had been so hesitant, and really wasn’t giving Tech much of a
consideration because of the location and distance from home. But, so far, I couldn’t ask for a better
opportunity- here’s to stepping out of your comfort zone and giving it a shot!
Saturday 3/25/2012
Today was the NJ Trail Series 50 miler I had signed up for
but decided not to run due to the recruitment weekend at Georgia Tech
tomorrow. Though I’m confident I was
physically prepared for the race, I was convinced by my parents and labmates
that participating in the race would be a poor decision. The weekend at Georgia Tech is important in
terms of making the best decisions for my future with a clear mind, which would
have been much more difficult as an exhausted, limping runner. I still have my regrets about not running,
but that’s neither here nor there at this point.
Equally as difficult as the decision not to race was
attending without running. I remembered
back to my Irish dancing days, and how,
following my last competition, it was really tough watch others participate in
competitions or shows without feeling pretty awful about not participating. But today at the race, I wanted to be there
for Rebekah, so I showed up to cheer.
The entire time I felt pretty awful, and seeing someone else run in my
place was a million times worse, but it wasn’t until the drive home that I
realized the path to my goals will be analogous to the 50 miler I missed out on
today. I’m about to embark on a sort of
ultramarathon of higher education. While
running will always be a huge part of my life, it will never be the only
thing. Running an ultra is still
something I’d like to do at some point, but it just didn’t work out this
time. In 5 weeks I’ll get to prove
myself in running the marathon in Providence, but for now it’s time to head to
Atlanta and prove myself as a confident, smart chica!

10 miles
Crossfit workout: EMOTM: 5 min of 10 overhead lunges (45#), 5 min of 7 power snatch (I think?) (55#), 5 min of 4 strict chin up (assisted, not sure of the setting)
Definitely could have gone higher on the weight for the lunge and snatches- way too easy.
